Tryggvi M. Baldvinsson is an Icelandic composer whose work includes solo and chamber works, songs and choral works, compositions for brass and wind band and ballet music. 

Baldvinsson studied piano and composition at the Reykjavík College of Music from 1984-1987. From 1987-1992 he studied composition and renaissance counterpoint at the Vienna Conservatory, graduating with a Diploma in 1992. Tryggvi is co founder of the Reykjavik Wind Ensemble and one of its regular conductors and is a member of the board of the Society of Icelandic Composers as well as the Iceland Music Information Centre.

Since 1992 Mr. Baldvinsson has been active as a composer, conductor and a music teacher in Iceland, taught music theory and composition at the Reykjavík College of Music, Iceland Academy of the Arts and conducted the Workers Wind Band in Reykjavík (1996-2005).

The Toronto Fanfare Project, a series of eclectic concerts presented as part of the 2006 soundaXis festival of music and architecture, offered an elaborate five-day welcome to this rich literature for brass ensemble, animating some of the great architectural and acoustical masterpieces in the core of Toronto with a celebration of the music of Canada and its northern neighbours.
